Faas Wilkes - Goals in International Matches

The outstanding Dutch player scored 35 international goals in 38 matches for his National Team. He held the Dutch record of goals for the national team from November 4, 1959 (when he surpassed the total of Abe Lenstra) until July 4, 1998 (when his total was surpassed by Dennis Bergkamp). All matches are friendlies unless stated otherwise.

Kick Smit, Faas Wilkes and Abe Lenstra gave rise to the perfect cartoon football player Kick Wilstra.

Together with Abe Lenstra and Kees Rijvers, Faas Wilkes formed the gouden binnentrio, three inside forwards of international class during a time Dutch football was mired in medicority due to the refusal of the authorities to admit professionalism.
