The top three teams from the 2007 South Pacific Games (New Caledonia, Fiji, and Vanuatu) 
joined New Zealand in a four-team pool. The top team will play a home and away matches 
with an Asia's 5th place nation for a place in the World Cup finals. 

Oceania's pool section also doubles as the 2008 OFC Nations Cup, with the winner qualifying 
for the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup.
