LIST OF ARGENTINIAN CLUBS AND DIVISIONAL MOVEMENTS (Professional Era
1931-2007/08)
Argentinian
Football teams are divided in two groups: Directly affiliated to AFA and
Indirectly affiliated to AFA.
The
first group is formed with all the teams that joined to AFA since 1931. Mostly,
these are teams from Buenos Aires and surrounding area, but also includes teams
from some regional leagues (Rosario, Santa Fe, Junín, La Plata, etc.) which
were invited by AFA to join to its tournaments.
Indirectly
affiliated teams are all the teams that belong to regional leagues. In this file
I had included all the teams from this group that had played in AFA tournaments
with a permanent place during one season or more. Until 1986, these teams only
competed with directly affiliated teams in the Campeonato Nacional (First Level
tournament played for all the First Level teams and the best regional teams).
However, in the 80’s, three teams: Talleres, Instituto A.C.C. and Racing (all
from Córdoba) were incorporated to the First Level due to their good
performances.
Since
1986, the indirectly affiliated teams played in the new Second Level division
(Primera Nacional B), along with the directly affiliated teams. Later, in the
1995/96 season a new Third Level division for the indirectly affiliated teams
was created and a new Fourth Level division was started in the 2004/2005 season.
