COSAFA Cup 2008

Played as one tournament in South Africa. Comoros Islands
enter for the first time.

Angola, Botswana, Mozambique, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe
automatically qualified for quarterfinals based on the FIFA
ranking of April 2008.

Angola entered their U-20 team in order not to disrupt the
ongoing league. South Africa entered a "Development Team"
consisting mostly of First Division (2nd level) players,
and also do not award any caps.

NB: as number of goals scored was not part of the tie-breaker, a coin
toss decided first place; the coin had 'FIFA' on the one side and
'FairPlay' on the other; Swaziland chose 'FairPlay' and (perhaps
unsurprisingly) lost, so Madagascar qualified for the quarterfinals
