Curaçao - List of Champions

The C.V.B. (Curaçaosche Voetbal Bond) was officially founded on 2 November 1921, after the first ever local championship, which was held in a knock-out format in August 1921. However, the organisation itself (later officially renamed F.F.K., Federashon Futbol Korsou, the version of its name in Papiamentu, which became an official language on the island, together with English, in March 2007) retains 23 May 1921 as its foundation date, this supposedly being the day on which discussions about forming the federation started.
In any case, the point is rather moot as it appears the C.V.B. was founded on four separate occasions (and disbanded three times) within a dozen of years. Already in November 1913 and in February 1915, matches are reported in which the "Curaçaosche Voetbal Bond" played a Military XI and a visiting ship (Hr. Ms. "Jacob van Heemskerck") respectively. Now, this might have referred to a team from the C.V.V. (Curaçaosche Voetbal Vereeniging) Republic, the first club known to have been founded on the island (in 1909), but [CVB 46], an official book published at the occasion of the silver jubilee of the federation, confirms the existence of an earlier, short-lived federation with only two member clubs (Republic and Sparta). The same book also states that the C.V.B. founded in 1921 was disbanded in the summer of 1922 following a conflict involving the clubs Leonidas and Sparta. The 1922/23 league was organised by an ad hoc committee, the C.V.C. (Curaçaosch Voetbal Comité); the C.V.B. was founded again in October 1923. In the beginning of 1925, the federation was disbanded once more and a "new" C.V.B. founded, due to problems with the exploitation and the maintenance of the Juliana Sportpark.
The C.V.B. joined the F.I.F.A. on 14 May 1932, three years after the S.V.B. (Surinam) and eight years after the N.I.V.B. (Dutch East Indies); thus, at the time the Kingdom of the Netherlands was home to four F.I.F.A. member federations.
At the beginning of 1974, 20 clubs left the C.V.B. and founded a semi-professional federation (Fedeprof, also abbreviated F.F.P.C.: Federashon Futbol Profesional do Corsow) which eventually returned to the C.V.B. and started a first semi-professional league on 8 September 1974.
Between 1960 and 2010, the champions and runners-up from Curaçao qualified for the championship of the Dutch Antilles, which they dominated throughout its half-century of existence, winning 44 of the 46 championships played.
When the football federation of the island took over membership from the dissolved N.A.V.U., the official name of the federation as registered at F.I.F.A. changed to C.F.F. (Curaçao Football Federation, the English translation of the original name).
