Notes: Two days prior to the match it was announced that W Sutherland was to be the twelfth man and that D Souter and M Burnand would start for Canterbury. However, two last minute changes were made and D Souter and M Burnand were replaced by R Scott and C Crowe (who were Westland's only representatives in this match). It is not clear whether W Sutherland remained as the 12th man. J Cawtheray was in charge of selecting the Canterbury & Westland team. Canterbury were 1-0 up after only a minute.
