Gambia 1997/98

Gambia FA League

Division One

Postponed match [Apr 16]
Wallidan (Banjul) 2-2 Flamenins FC (Banjul) [newly promoted]

Round 10(?) [Apr 18,19]
Mass Sosseh 1-0 Sait Matty (Bakau)
Real (Banjul) 4-0 Flamenins FC (Banjul)
Hawks FC (Banjul) 0-0 Ports Authority (Banjul)
Steve Biko (Bakau) 0-0 Starlight (Banjul)

Saraba FC decided to pull out of the league after the first leg
because of financial difficulties; after receiving support from the
Gambian FA, they continued the season.

Top Table [Apr 19]:

 1.Mass Sosseh 22
 2.Real
 3.Hawks

Final Round [Jun 3]
Real (Banjul) 1-0 Sait Matty (Bakau)
Mass Sosseh --- Wallidan (Banjul)

Real (Banjul) have won the title; an appeal against that was rejected.

Relegated: Flamenins FC (Banjul) and Saraba FC
Promoted: NPE (Sukuta) and Armed Forces (Banjul).

NB: according to the home site of the Gambia FA:
GPA (i.e. Ports Authority) made a come back with newly promoted
Latdior FC from Bakau when Starlight and Armed Forces FC relegated
and Real FC won the league unbeaten in 16 matches.
This makes no sense at all unless it refers to 1996/97 and even
then the relegation of Starlight was apparently revoked.
