[*] Eagle Beaks (Lilongwe) were disbanded after owners Malawi Police
Service decided to form a strong police side (both Eagle Strikers
and Blue Eagles are also MPS clubs); the three relegated teams
from last season (Ekwendeni Medicals (northern region), Michiru
Castles (southern region) and Pakeeza (now Pakeeza Blue Stars,
central region)) were invited for a playoff to replace them but
Ekwendeni withdrew, preferring to play at the second level for
financial reasons; in the end (on Jul 9), Pakeeza were elected
to replace Eagle Beaks, as they had been the best of the relegated
teams last season (and possibly also because they are from the
same regional association as Eagle Beaks) without playing Michiru
Castles; Pakeeza changed name to EPAC United (Electrical Power and
Accessories Contractors) on July 10
