Spain - Amateur Champions 1930-1987

The Campeonato de España de Aficionados was created at the end of the 1920s, when professionalism had been introduced in Spain, by the RFEF, to promote those young players who might have the potential to become professional.
The competition has evolved over the decades, to the point that it established a policy whereby only players under 23 years were allowed to participate, so it was renamed Spain Amateur Championship or National Amateur Championship (U-23).

It took place in two phases: first at regional level, followed by a national phase, involving the winners (and possibly runners-up) of each regional federation.

Until 1975 the final was held at a neutral venue, except for the 1972 edition. Since then, the final was played over two legs. As the competition suffered from decreasing interest, it was stopped in 1987.
