Champions of the Tournament of Departmental Selections of the Confederation of the Litoral
The Confederation of the Litoral is one of the 4 constituting O.F.I., which organizes football outside Montevideo.
Department is a political, administrative and artificial division of Uruguay; there are 19.
From the year 1992 on, when the Confederation of the Northeast disappeared, Rivera's selections and Tacuarembó entered the Litoral, Rivera winning in 1993; in spite of being the most honored of the Interior, Tacuarembó did not win a title yet in Litoral. In 2004 the northern confederation was resurrected as Confederación del Litoral Norte.
Since 1992 two selections per department take part, one corresponding to league of the capital city (denominated by the department name, added with Capital), and one the winners of a prior tournament among the different ligas of the department (denominated by the department name, added with Interior). This selection can be chosen from players of the winning league and reinforced by players of the losing ones.
