Uruguay - Liga Capital de Fútbol (Maldonado)

overview file

The Liga Capital de Fútbol was founded on 1922 as Liga Maldonadense de Fútbol, and was renamed in 1951 when Maldonado Football was re-organised.

Before 1951 all the clubs from Maldonado played in the same league (Maldonado (Capital), Pan de Azúcar, Piriápolis and San Carlos), but since then three different leagues were created: Liga Capital de Fútbol, Liga Carolina de Fútbol (San Carlos) and Liga de Fútbol de Zona Oeste (Pan de Azúcar and Piriápolis).

Some years later a new league was formed: Liga de Fútbol de Zona Aiguá, with teams from the city of Aiguá.
