In 1990, when OFI divided the departments in two sectors, the teams from the Capital League
(Treinta y Tres) stopped playing the Campeonato Departamental.
However, the leagues from the Interior Sector started playing a new tournament called
Campeonato de Clubes Campeones del Sector Interior, to decide the team that would represent
the Sector in the Copa El País (or a preliminary elimination with Treinta y Tres teams, that
occurred in 1991, 1994, 1995 and 1996).
