Some additional info on the early history of football in Argentina.

Names.

1. Previous association.
    7 Mar 1891 – 26 Jan 1892: "Association Argentine Football League".
   Season: 1891.
   NB 26 Jan 1892, last announced meeting found.

2. Official association: Asociación del Fútbol Argentino (AFA).
   AFA have used the following names up to now:

2.1 21 Feb 1893: "The Argentine Association Football League".
    Seasons: 1893-1902.

2.2 11 Feb 1903: "Argentine Football Association".
    Seasons: 1903-1911.

2.3  1 Feb 1912: "Asociación Argentina de Football".
    Seasons: 1912-1914.

2.4 22 Feb 1915: Asociación y Federación Argentinas de Football.

2.5  2 Mar 1915: "Asociación Argentina de Football".
    Seasons: 1915-1926.

2.6 28 Nov 1926: "Asociación Amateurs Argentina de Football".
    Seasons: 1927-1930.

2.5 20 Jun 1931: "Asociación Argentina de Football (Amateurs y Profesionales)".
    Seasons: 1931-1933.

2.6 24 Nov 1933: "Asociación Argentina de Football".
    Seasons: 1933-1934.

2.7  3 Nov 1934: "Asociación del Football Argentino".

Tie Breakers.

We use the following methods as first tie-breaker:

1891-1955: Goal Average.
1956-1966: Points won between teams with same position and the 5 first teams of the table.
1967-1970: Goals For.
1971- up to now: Goal Difference.


Amateur Era 1891-1934.



Professional Era 1931-up to now.
