NB: only in 1985/86 a 'normal' league was played; ever since, the
championship was decided in an elaborate play-off system, involving
four to six clubs, including (promoted) second division clubs from
1987/88 up to and including 1995/96; Virtus (1988), Cosmos (1990)
and La Fiorita (1994) reached the championship final having started
the season in the second division while Libertas won the league as
a second level team in 1996; after that season the separation in
two divisions was abolished and one top level divided into two
    groups established.
